How to Connect a Soundbar to LG TV With HDMI Cable 

HDMI cable is the most sought-after way to connect Soundbar to LG TV. since, HDMI transfers audio digitally, this ensures that the audio being transferred is of top-notch quality.

To ensure your Soundbar connects to LG TV, check and confirm whether your TV has an HDMI  ARC (audio return channel).

To check whether your LG TV has an HDMI ARC, you can check the labels next to the ports present either at the back or the sides of your TV. if you locate even one port that’s labelled HDMI ARC, you can use an HDMI cable to connect a Soundbar to LG TV.

Here are the steps on how you can do it:

Step 1: Insert HDMI cable into the TV 

Take the HDMI cable and insert one end of the cable at the HDMI ARC of your TV as mentioned above, the port is located at the back or at either side of your LG TV.

Step 2: Insert HDMI into the Soundbar 

Take the other end of the cable and insert it into the HDMI port on the soundbar. Make sure the port where you insert the cable is marked as HDMI (TV ARC).

Step 3: Change the Soundbar’s settings 

Now take your Soundbar’s remote, and press either the Function, F button, or the External Input button on it. Next, select ARC.

Step 4: Change TV settings 

Go to your TV and switch it on if you haven’t before. Once the TV is properly switched on, click on the Settings button on your remote.

Click All Settings. From the pop-up menu that appears on your TV screen, click Sound, and next select Sound Out. 

Next, click on Use Wired Speaker, and then select HDMI (ARC).

That’s it, your Soundbar should now be connected to your LG TV.

How to Connect a Soundbar to LG TV With Optical Cable

 If you don’t have an HDMI ARC in your TV, using an optical cable to connect a Soundbar to LG TV is your next best option.

The cable works just as well as an HDMI cable and offers you raw and uncompressed audio. Your Optical will also be able to handle any high-end soundbar and the surround sound it offers.

Here’s what you have to do to connect the optical cable to your soundbar.  

Step 1: Insert the optical cable into the TV 

As described above, you have to take one end of the Optical cable and insert it into the Optical (out) port of your TV.

Step 2: Insert Optical cable  into the Soundbar 

Next, take the other end of the cable and insert it into the Optical (in) port of the soundbar.

Step 3: Change the Soundbar’s settings 

Now take your Soundbar’s remote, and press either the Function, F button, or the External Input button on it. Next, select the optical input function.

You can also press the “Optical” button on your remote to directly select the optical input function.

Step 4: Change TV settings 

Go to your TV and switch it on if you haven’t before. Once the TV is properly switched on, click on the Settings button on your remote.

Click All Settings. From the pop-up menu that appears on your TV screen, click Sound, and next select Sound Out. 

Next, click on Use Wired Speaker, and then select Optical Out Device.

Once you change the audio settings of your LG TV, you should be able to enjoy the audio through your Soundbar.

How to Connect a Soundbar to LG TV With Bluetooth 

If using an HDMI or Optical cable is out of the question for you, I have one more method up my sleeve that you can use to connect a Soundbar to LG TV.

The audio quality may lack a little but if you want to go the wireless route, this is the method for you.

Here’s what you have to do:

Step 1: Switch on Bluetooth on the soundbar 

Take your Soundbar’s remote, press either the Function, F button, or the External Input button on it, and select BT.

When READY displays on your Soundbar, it is ready to be paired with your TV.

Step 2: Change TV settings 

Go to your TV and switch it on if you haven’t before. Once the TV is properly switched on, click on the Settings button on your remote.

Click All Settings. From the pop-up menu that appears on your TV screen, click Sound, and then select Sound Out. 

Next, select Bluetooth Device.

Step 3: Connect the Soundbar to the TV 

When you switch on the Bluetooth on your TV, it will start looking for the available devices.

Once your soundbar displays on your TV screen, select it.

At last, enter your Bluetooth password, and your TV should connect to your Soundbar.
